The Dallas Mustangs Blue took home the title in the 2004 Reebok North Central Texas Classic downing the Dallas Hoop Dreams Blue 61-57 in the championship game. Mustangs guard Booker Woodfox led all scorers with 16 points in the title game, and averaged 15.8 ppg. for the tourney to earn our MVP nod.

Several out of state players were very impressive. 6-11 WF/BF Kellen Lee of the Denver Tru Playaz, handled the rock and hit jumpers in a long, lanky 6-11 frame. The Memphis Bulldogs’ Anthony Mason had a great weekend with several highlight-reel dunks.

The Mustangs came out scorching and looked to be on their way to a huge win. The Hoop Dreams came back strong in the second half after being down 28-14 at the break. Anthony Smith had two big second-half 3-pointers for the Hoop Dreams, Smith finished with 16 for HD. Tourney MVP Booker Woodfox led the Mustangs with 16 points. Gary Flowers added 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Byron Eaton 10 points and 6 assists.

After upsetting the Mustangs Blue on Saturday night in pool play, the Mustangs wanted revenge, but it happened a little early as the Mustangs White took out the Bulldogs in an upset win. With the score tied, and time winding down Derrick Moore grabbed a Memphis miss and fed Brandon Roberts who was looking to fire a potential game-winner. Before he could though, Memphis fouled him at mid-court and Roberts connected on the front end of the one-and-one for the win.
