NBA Title Game- Arkansas Hawks  58    Houston Lynx 49

This game was close the entire way. The Hawks took control down the stretch, and down by four the Lynx sent the wrong shooter to the foul line and were assessed a technical. A fine showing for the Lynx. 2004 BF Troy Ruths of Ft. Bend Austin was solid down the stretch. 2004 BF Zach Trader of LaPorte played well also. The Arkansas Hawks were led by 2004's Marcus Monk and Mark Winston.

NBA Consolation Championship- Fort Worth MLK Mash defeats Dallas Hoops Elite

When we left with just over 7 minutes remaining MLK Mash (Dunbar High School) had pulled out to a 22 point lead. 2004 F Jeremis Smith had 18 points and 8 rebounds. 2004 G Jeff Muriel added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (not sure if he went for the triple dip). 2004 F Jared Watley chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Dallas Hoops was led by 2004 North Crowley G Mike Sturns who had 16 points and 7 rebounds when we left.

Houston Lynx 80    Team NCI Hoopstars Elite 68

The Houston Lynx continued to take care of business. Already having defeated the Houston Superstars 3 Stripes and Houston Select, the Lynx opened up a tight game down the stretch. 2004 G/F Thomas Sanders of HCYA led the charge for the Lynx with 18 points and 11 rebounds. 2004 BF Troy Ruths of Ft. Bend Austin added 15 points, and 2004 Houston Washington G Nick McMillan chipped in 14 (4 threes). Several players stepped up big time for the Hoopstars. 2004 F Ryan Bright of Deer Park had 18 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out late. 2005 WG Drew Washington of Clear Brook continued his standout play with 19 points. 2004 Houston Milby PG Kevin Quinney added 18 points.

Arkansas Hawks 58    Austin Dawgs 55

A tight game the entire way, the Arkansas Hawks were able to pull to about a 4-6 point lead early in the second half. The Hawks were only able to hit 2 of their last 6 foul shots down the stretch. The momentum swung to the Hawks early with a huge Marcus Monk dunk right on an Austin player. Monk was solid the entire day as was WF Brandon Patterson and BF Mark Winston. The Austin Dawgs got hot shooting from 2004 Pflugerville G/F Doug Krause, 2004 Belton G Matt Braeuer and 2004 Round Rock McNeil G A.J. Abrams.

Dallas Hoops Elite 63    ATX Boys 16's 54

ATX watched an early lead disappear as the Dallas Hoops pulled away in the second half. 2005 Dallas Hillcrest G/F Johnathan Amos led the way with 16 points and 4 rebounds. 2005 Irving Nimitz G Marquiz Haynes and 2004 North Crowley G Mike Sturns both added 8. ATX was paced by 2005 Del Valle G Curtis "C.J." Jerrells' 23 points. 2005 Del Valle WF Adrian Thomas added 12.

Ft. Worth MLK Mash defeated Dallas Mustangs White

Dunbar (MLK Mash) took a 10 point win in this one. 2004 FW Dunbar F Jeremis Smith led the way with 26 points. G Jeff Muriel and BF Chris Evans each played well also. The Mustangs White were led by 2005 Richardson Lake Highlands WG Terrel Harris' 27 points. 2005 Richardson Berkner G Clint Nixon played well also.

NBA Quarterfinals

Arkansas Hawks 72    Houston Westside All Stars 66

Westside just dug a hole too deep to get out of. Falling behind by as many as 20, and by 16 at the half, Westside controlled the second half and had a charge down the stretch but it wasn't enough. The Arkansas Hawks could do know wrong in this one. The Hawks shot over 60 % from the field, playing their best game of the day, still though it was barely enough. Arkansas was led by G/F Zach McGrath's 16 and WF Marcus Monk's 11. Katy Cinco Ranch PG Charlie Jones III was big for Westside with 17 points (3 threes) and 10 assists. Cinco Ranch G Sean Morris added 17 and Texas City WF Dion Dowell chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Team NCI Hoopstars Elite 61    San Antonio RoHawks 57

A tight game all the way, NCI made a few more plays down the stretch to hang on over the RoHawks. 2004 Deer Park F Ryan Bright was big with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. 2004 Houston Milby PG Kevin Quinney added 10 points and 2005 Clear Brook G Drew Washington added 7 points and 5 assists. The RoHawks were led by 2004 Converse Judson PG Dominique Richardson's 10 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. 2004 San Antonio Southwest F Patrick Britton added 8 points and 8 rebounds and New Braunfels Canyon (2004) BF Jason Grohman added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Houston Lynx 67    Houston Superstars 3 Stripes 56

After last night upsetting Houston Select, the Lynx took out tourney favorite, the powerful Houston Superstars. The Lynx controlled the tempo and dared the Superstars to beat them from outside. 2004 BF Troy Ruths of Ft. Bend Austin and 2004 BF Zach Trader of LaPorte both had 12 as did Houston Washington G Nick McMillan. The Superstars got solid play from 2004 Aldine G Mario Kersee who led the way with 15. Austin LBJ 2004 teammates Skip Thomas and Marshall Brown had 10 and 9 respectively. Channelview WG Neimann Owens added 8.

NCAA Bracket play game- Burkburnett HS 65    Katy HS 58

A good ballgame, Burkburnett pulled away in the end led by 2004 G Willie Fannon's 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Andrew Franklin led the way for Katy with 30 points including 5 threes.

Consolation Play

2005 Del Valle G Curtis "C.J." Jerrells came up with a sick crossover and finished at the rim as time ran out to lead ATX 16's to a win over the Oklahoma Aces.

The Austin Dawgs closed the first half on a 26-6 run to put away the Mustangs. 2004 Belton PG Matt Braeuer played great leading Austin with 15. 2004 Austin LBJ F Chuck Foster and 2004 Belton F Ramonce Taylor each added 12. In the absence of Byron Eaton, 2005 Denton Ryan G Austin Jackson was the game's high scorer with 18 points. 2005 Dallas Roosevelt F Gary Flowers had a great game with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists. 2005 Lewisville G Booker Woodfox added 7 points and 8 assists.

Houston Westside All Stars defeat Gulf Coast (LA/MS) Stars

2004 Texas City WF Dion Dowell and 2004 Katy Cinco Ranch G Sean Morris led the way as Westside downed Gul Coast by 10.

Houston Superstars 3 Stripes 64    Dallas Slam 36

The Superstars ran away from Dallas Slam led by 2005 Houston Gulf Shores WF Gerald Green's 13 points. 2004 Channelview WG Neimann Owens had 7 assists and 2004 Aldine G Mario Kersee had 11 points.

Dallas Mustangs Blue 75    KC Pump n Run 17's 65

The Mustangs controlled this game all the way. The Mustangs were led by 2005 Denton Ryan G Austin Jackson's 21 points. 2004 Mansfield BF/C Sean Williams added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. 2005 Lewisville G Booker Woodfox had 15 points and 2005 Dallas Roosevelt F Gary Flowers added 10  points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Joey Mundweller led Pump n Run with 17.

Ft. Worth MLK Mash 76    Dallas Dirty Dozen White 70 in 3 overtimes

After going 0-3 in pool play, Dunbar trailed by 3 with 20 seconds to go. Jeremis Smith after missing one three took a Jared Watley pass rose way up and drained a three as time expired to force overtime. Smith led all scorers in the game with 35 points. 2004 Dallas WT White G Jawaan Chappell was solid for the Dirty Dozen.

ATX Boys 46    Dallas Dirty Dozen Black 40

2005 Del Valle G Curtis Jerrells had 14 for ATX, the Dirty 12 was led by Josh Hickman's 13 points.

Houston Select 58    Colorado Select 57

2004 Spring Westfield PG Marlon Davis canned 2 threes in the last minute and one as time expired to give Select the comeback win.

Team NCI Hoopstars Elite 80    Lousiana Sports Academy Cubs 62

In one of the biggest upsets of the tourney, NCI Elite got 36 points from 2005 Clear Brook WG Drew Washington to lead the way. 2004 Deer Park F Ryan Bright chipped in his usual big time effort of 17 points and 8 rebounds. 2005 WF Tasmin Mitchell had 15 for the Sports Academy.

Dallas Mustangs White led by games of 37 and 27 points by Richardson Lake Highlands 2005 WG Terrel Harris.

Texas Top Prospects 2003 82 Texas Hot Boyz 47
Top Prospects ran away with this one led by 2004 Cedar Hill G Roderick Adams' 19 points. He was followed by 2004 Dallas Lincoln G/F Roderick Rodgers' 14 and 2004 DeSoto F Rodney Jackson's 12. The Hot Boyz were led by 2004 Dallas Roosevelt G DeShawn Knighten's 12 points, followed by 2004 Mansfield Summitt WF Moses Ehambe's 10.
Houston Prep All Stars 56 Houston Shot Callers 52
2005 Houston Madison teammates PG Ryan McCoy and BF Quentin Pettit took over this one scoring 15 and 16 points respectively. The Shot Callers were led by 13 from Tony Taccolini of Westbury Christian and 8 from Leon St. Rose of Houston Milby.
Texas BlueChips #2 67 Team Texas 16's Elite 56
2004 Mansfield BF Nick Tyler had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Chips, Plano West WF Michael Nash added 13. For Team Texas, 2005 Ft. Worth Country Day G/F Walker Delatour hit 5 threes en route to 19 points. He was followed by 2005 Plano West BF Michael Prince's 11 and 2005 Dallas SOC BF Kevin Rogers' 9.

Denton Shootout Day 2 Recap

        Big day of hoops today in Denton. We first caught the Louisiana Sports Academy Cubs (minus Big Baby and Tasmin Mitchell) down the Arkansas Wings 65-54.

At the same time the Oklahoma Trotters 1 defeated the ATX 16's 64-60. The Trotters had a lead as large as 24 points, whittled to nothing in a close win. 2005's Del Valle G Curtis Jerrells and Austin Anderson WF Malcolm Johnson both had 18 to lead all scorers. Johnson added 10 rebounds and Jerrells 9 and 4 assists. Oklahoma was led by Kyle Williams' 14 points.

Next, the Texas Top Prospects 2003 downed D-Nice 62-45. 2004 Dallas Lincoln G/F Roderick Rodgers led the way with 10 for the Prospects followed by DeSoto F Dwight Coleman's 9. D-Nice was paced by 2005 Dallas Skyline G/F Calvin Miles' 13 points and 8 rebounds.

The San Antonio Rohawks downed the Houston Jr. Hardballers 65-63. 2004 San Antonio Southwest F Patrick Britton led the way with 20 points and 9 rebounds, and 2004 San Antonio Highlands G/F Lorenzo Anthony added 16. 2004 San Antonio Lee BF Johnathan Woods added 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Jr. Hardballers were led by 2004 Cypress Community Christian WG Jarryd Knight's 13 points.

Next we caught Houston Gold down the North Texas Rice Owls 74-57. 2004's Wendel Washington and Corban Bates each had 13 to lead Gold. North Texas was led by 2005 Dallas Jesuit G/F Mike Miller's 19 points.

The Houston Superstars 3 Stripes arrived and handled Houston Silver 48-30. 2004 Aldine G Mario Kersee led the way with 15 followed by 2004 Houston Gulf Shores G Jovan Adams' 11.

The ATX Boys downed D-Nice 48-46. Del Valle G Curtis "C.J." Jerrells' 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. 2005 Dallas Skyline G/F Calvin "C.J." Miles had 21 to lead D-Nice. The battle of the C.J.'s went clearly to Jerrells as Miles had a tough afternoon from the field, and had trouble with Jerrells on both ends. Another highlight was the play of a pair of young 2007 players for ATX. Future Austin Akins F Marcus Martin had 4 and future Austin LBJ F Prizell Brown had 6.

The Arkansas Angels downed the Dallas Mustangs Blue 58-53. 2005's Lewisville G Booker Woodfox and Denton Ryan G Austin Jackson each had 12 for Dallas. 2005 F Gary Flowers had 8 points and 10 rebounds and 2004 Mansfield BF/C  Sean Williams had 6 points, 6 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. 2004 F Tarrell Wilson led Arkansas with 13.

Coast to Coast (Florida) beat Team Texas 16's Elite 59-57. 2005 Plano West F Michael Prince had 15 points, while 2005 Dallas SOC BF Kevin Rogers added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Coast to Coast was led by 2004 St. Thomas Aquinas F Bryan White had 17 and 2004 North Broward Prep G/F Casey Wohleb had 18 points. Coast to Coast was 3-0 in their pool.

Houston Superstars 3 Stripes bolstered by the arrival of Austin LBJ's Marshall Brown took out KC Premiere Red 67-50. Channelview G/F Neimann Owens led the charge with 16 followed by 2005 Houston Gulf Shores WF Gerald Green's 15 (3 threes).

Other action, the Texas Wolverines led by 2005 Cedar Hill PG Catrell Currie and 2005 DeSoto WF Roderick Fleming won their pool at 3-0.

The Dallas Mustangs Blue hammered ATX 17's 100-34. The Mustangs were paced by 2005 Lewisville G Booker Woodfox's 18, 2005 F Gary Flowers' 14 points and 10 rebounds and 2005 Seagoville G/F Ryan Boyd's 13 points. Denton Ryan G Austin Jackson had 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. 2004 Round Rock BF Jeremy Mathurin led ATX 17's with 11.
The Austin Dawgs hammered the Texas BlueChips #2 76-48. 2004 Belton G Matt Braeuer had 22 points to lead the Dawgs.
Houston Select I beat the Dallas Mustangs White 63-57 in a hard fought win. Select was without Joseph Jones and Chamberlain Oguchi. 2004 Aldine Nimitz G Derrick Roberts led the way with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Houston Milby BF Larry Posey had 11 and Nimitz G Aldric Reynolds had 10. The Mustangs were led by 2005 Richardson Lake Highlands WG Terrel Harris' 16 points. He was followed by '05 Richardson Berkner G Clint Nixon's 13 and '05 Dallas Lincoln BF Derrick Moore's 10.
Gulf Coast Louisiana/Mississippi downed the Dallas Hoops Elite 59-56. North Crowley G Michael Sturns led Dallas Hoops in scoring.
The Southeast Texas All Stars beat Dallas Slam 65-62. 2004 Kountze G Keithan Hancock had 16 points in the last 8 minutes of the first half and hit several big free throws down the stretch.
The Texas Top Prospects 17's beat the Houston Shot Callers 63-55. 2005 Arlington G Anthony Thomas led the way with 15 and 2005 Greenville F Justin Wilkerson added 11.
Team NCI Hoopstars Elite downed Ft. Worth MLK Mash 73-67. Deer Park F Ryan Bright and 2005 Clear Brook G Drew Washington both had 18 to lead NCI. Dunbar was paced by F's Jeremis Smith and Jared Watley each of whom scored 15.
Team Texas 16's Elite held on for a 65-61 win over the Houston Raptors. 2005 Ft. Worth Eastern Hills PG Aram Adams led the way with 19, followed by Dallas SOC BF Kevin Rogers had 15 and Plano West F Michael Prince added 14. THe Raptors were led by Ft. Bend Hightower BF Larry Handy who had 16.
The Houston Superstars Elite lost to the Colorado Select Blue 57-43. The Superstars Elite were paced by '05 Waco PG Carl Sims' 18 points.
The Miami City Ballers beat San Antonio Bulls 63-52. Miami was led by G Edwin Rios' 20 points. The Bulls were paced by San Antonio South San G Paul Barnes' 13 and Converse Judson G Jason Powell's 14.
Houston Westside All Stars defeated the Corpus Christi Panthers 85-67. 2004 Alief Elsik F Myles Guidry led the way with 21 followed by Cinco Ranch G Sean Morris' 19 and Cy Fallas F Desmond Franklin's 16. Corpus Christi BF Sidney Nickleson had a very nice day with 15 points and 2 big dunks.
Big time days today for Calvin Miles 2005 Dallas Skyline, Keithan Hancock 2004 Kountze, Matt Braeuer 2004 Belton, Booker WOodfox 2005 Lewisville, Gary Flowers 2004 Dallas Roosevelt, Ryan Boyd 2005 Dallas Seagoville, Derrick Roberts 2004 Aldine Nimitz.
